Kim Kardashian Talks Challenges Of Single Motherhood: ‘There Are Nights I Cry Myself To Sleep’

Kim Kardashian might be a multi-millionaire entrepreneur and budding lawyer, but her status doesn’t seem to exempt her from the challenges of being a single parent. The arguably most famous Kardashian got candid about her daily mama routines while interviewing on the Jay Shetty Podcast.

Kim Kardashian Talks Single Motherhood & Crying Herself To Sleep

She explained that her morning workout before her kids wake up keeps her sane.

“As soon as everyone starts to get up for school, the madness happens and it’s about two hours of madness. From getting four kids ready in the morning–fed, out the door, to school. I drop [them off at] school every day,” Kimberly said.

Kim says she gets about 20 minutes of “alone time” while driving home from drop-off–music blasting and no phone calls. The motherhood “madness” starts again in the evening after a full “committed and focused” work day.

“And then the madness of bath time, bedtime, dinner time…and once four babies are asleep and I just cherish that time at night when everyone’s asleep, and I can watch whatever show I want and just have some alone time. So, I do take the time for myself. I think it’s very important.”

Kim and Kanye West, also known as Ye, welcomed four children–North, Saint, Chicago, and Pslam–during their six-year marriage. In November, the former couple reportedly settled their divorce after drawn-out proceedings, online tussles, and romances by both parties.

Ultimately, Ye agreed to pay Kimmy $200,000 monthly in child support and cover 50 percent of their medical, educational, and security costs. The artist foots these bills, despite their shared physical and legal custody of the children.

Kim Kardashian Says ‘Parenting’ And ‘Family Dynamics’ Can Be ‘So Hard’

The conversation about parenting happened last than five minutes into the interview. About three-and-a-half minutes in, Kardashian admitted that she “shows all [her] faces” but believes people “pick and choose” what they want to take.

Nonetheless, she expressed the importance of taking every opportunity to “express yourself in a more meaningful way.”

“So I always love to share my tips, and anything I’ve learned along the way ’cause God knows it is not easy like parenting is so hard. Family dynamics, relationships, it is so hard.”

Kim then pivoted, as prompted by the host, to speak on maintaining family relationships, despite difficulties or temporary disagreements.

A little less than halfway through, Kim highlighted what she imagined parenting would be versus what it now is.

“Everyone says the days are long and the years are short, and that couldn’t be like a more true statement. So like, when you’re in it, especially when they’re babies and you’re feeding and there’s madness going on, it’s like full madness. It’s the best chaos though.”

Kim jumped back to her morning routines with the kids–from combing the girls’ hair, putting shoes on, and cooking. She emphasized how much “madness” goes down.

“That’s why I need my workout in the morning, just to prepare for the two hours of craziness. I’d say parenting is the thing that’s taught me the most about myself. It has been the most challenging thing, there are nights I cry myself to sleep like ‘what just happened’ with all the moods and the personalities. Sometimes they’re fighting and there’s no one there…like it’s me to play good cop and bad cop, so that’s definately a challenge.”

Kardashian says something she is working on is being “firmer.” She added that nothing, not owning a home or stable finances, can ever prepare you for being a parent.

“I don’t care how long you wait, I don’t care what you’re waiting for, you are never prepared, but you will figure it out. And it will make you so proud of yourself that you figured it out and that you got through the day. And sometimes it’s night where we are going hour by hour to see if we’re foing to survive, night by night. If a tantrum comes in, oh my God, your life is completely upside down, but it teaches you so much more about yourself that I think anyone, any parent could’ve ever anticipated.”

Kardashian called parenting the “most challenging, rewarding job on this planet.”

Earlier this month, the mother of four enjoyed one of the pleasures of parenthood–celebrating her little one’s birthday. Kim hosted a firefighter-themed birthday party for Pslam’s fourth birthday.

Meanwhile, Ye–who has been keeping a low profile–has been spotted out with his new wife, Bianca Censori, several times in the last few weeks. Over the weekend, a video of Bianca speaking to a flirtatious stranger went viral.
