Leo DiCaprio Hails Greta Thunberg as ‘A Leader of Our Time’ – A Pivotal Moment in Environmental Advocacy

Leonardo DiCaprio and Greta Thunberg are teaming up to save the planet you guys AND WE COULDN’T BE MORE EXCITED.

The actor, who’s been raising awareness about environmental issues for more than 20 years through the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, posted photos of his catch up with the teenage climate activist on social media, praising her as an important voice of our generation.

“There are few times in human history when voices are amplified at such pivotal moments and in such transformational ways – but @GretaThunberg has become a leader of our time,” he writes in an Insta post.

“History will judge us for what we do today to help guarantee that future generations can enjoy the same liveable planet that we have so clearly taken for granted,” he continues.

“I hope that Greta’s message is a wake-up call to world leaders everywhere that the time for inaction is over. It is because of Greta, and young activists everywhere that I am optimistic about what the future holds.”

He ends his post by saying how much of an honour it was to spend time with Greta and that the pair will be working together “in the hopes of securing a brighter future for our planet.”

Greta, who is currently in Los Angeles for her 63rd week of climate strikes, has been copping criticism for her activism (think Donald Trump and Piers Morgan) so having an international superstar like Leonardo DiCaprio in her corner can only be a good thing.

Earlier this week, singer Robbie Williams responded to her critics in an interview with British GQ:

“No matter what you think of Greta or her speech, her tone of her facial expressions, her anger, her passion, she should be allowed to do that without reproach….I think that she should be allowed to get on with whatever the f*** she wants to get on with. Let her be.”

And let’s not forget Jane Fonda who is so inspired by Greta that she’s been arrested four times in four weeks while calling for the U.S government to take urgent climate action.
