Waka Flocka Reportedly Makes New Filing In Tammy Rivera Divorce After Viral Exchange Between Her & His Girlfriend
Waka Flocka has reportedly made a recent filing in his and Tammy Rivera‘s ongoing divorce proceedings.
Here’s What Waka Flocka Reportedly Filed
According to RadarOnline, Waka Flocka, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, has reportedly requested that a Georgia judge seal court records regarding his and Rivera’s divorce. Additionally, the rapper is also requesting that both he and Rivera be prohibited from speaking about their divorce publicly.
The outlet notes that the rapper’s filing was made “earlier this month” after a “nasty spat on social media” between Rivera and his current girlfriend, Melanie.
Additionally, Waka reportedly asserted that he and Rivera are “famous” public figures. Therefore, “their information should be kept hidden from the public.”
“[Juaquin James Malphurs would like all parties] ‘to refrain from discussing the proceedings and any aspect of the proceedings in the media to include but not limited to social media, print media, internet, radio, and or television media,’” the rapper’s filing reportedly reads, per RadarOnline.
Furthermore, Waka would also reportedly like their financial documents to be kept under wraps.
Here’s What Happened Between Tammy Rivera Waka Flocka’s Girlfriend
As The Shade Room previously reported, Waka unveiled his romantic relationship with a woman he initially called “Big Mel” in January.
The revelation prompted some backlash toward Waka’s new woman.
At the time, Instagram user @_lifewithshanice stepped into The Shade Room’s comment section, writing:
“Would never accept no other woman for him if it’s not Tammy! I said what I said!”
However, Waka and Rivera’s daughter, Charlie, would appear to calm the backlash.
Last week, however, fans believed that Rivera and Melanie shaded one another on social media, per The Shade Room. Initially, Rivera took to Instagram Story writing:
“No one can make me jealous over a seat I had first. You wouldn’t be sitting there if I didn’t get up.”
While Melanie seemingly reacted in her Instagram Story with the following:
“Being washed up and can’t let go of your past is type crazy. This is the one, cuz it’s giving jealous and bitter.”
Ultimately, Rivera closed out the matter by letting fans know she is happy where she is in life and with who she’s with.
Furthermore, Rivera even posted photos of her covering a tattoo of Waka’s government name. Then, a few days later, she teased pictures of her new boo on social media.
The Rapper Previously Opened Up About His & Tammy Rivera’s Divorce
Although Waka Flocka reportedly seems to be trying to keep his divorce offline now, he did speak on the matter candidly last year. In January 2023, the rapper sat down for an exclusive interview with Shannon Sharpe and talked about him and Rivera ending their 8-year marriage.
Despite the pressures of being in the public eye, Waka admitted that his and Rivera’s split was all on him.
“It was me,” he told Sharpe. “I was just young and dumb.”
Ultimately, the rapper explained that he could not balance his business as a rapper, businessman, father, and husband. Ultimately decided to let their relationship go.
“I didn’t fail at nothing. It was just a lot,” he said. “I just wanted to help everybody.”
According to RadarOnline, Waka filed for divorce from Rivera on May 23, 2023. At the time, he reportedly listed their date of marriage as January 21, 2014, and their date of separation as December 1, 2021.
At the time, the rapper asserted their union was “irretrievably broken” with “no reasonable hope of reconciliation.” Additionally, he reportedly asked to retain exclusive use of their home in Atlanta, Georgia and alleged neither he nor Rivera shared marital debts.
Lastly, Waka reportedly requested Rivera “not be awarded alimony or spousal support.”
