Cardi B is no stranger to cosmetic surgery, and she’s always been open about getting breast implants and liposuction, among other procedures. But the rapper is now warning her younger followers to think long and hard before going under the knife (or the needle, as the case may be). She’s even had one of her own injections removed.

“In August I got surgery and I removed 95% of my biopolymers… if you don’t know what it is, it’s ass shots. It was a really crazy process,” she said on Instagram Live, per JustJared. “All I’m going to say is that if you’re young, if you’re 19, 20, 21, and sometimes you’re too skinny, and you be like ‘OMG I don’t have enough fat to put in my ass,’ so you result to ass shots, DON’T!”

She didn’t go into detail about why she didn’t like having synthetic material in her behind, but Cardi did share her opinions on another popular surgery, the Brazilian butt lift.

“When it comes to BBLs, if y’all want advice from me, before you get your BBL done you have to make sure your blood levels are all right,” she said. “If a doctor says your blood levels are too low or you have diabetes or whatever, don’t do it.” (An improperly performed BBL can lead to death, and as many as 1 in 3,000 patients who undergo the procedure die as a result, according to a 2017 study. As the procedure has only soared in popularity since, these figures may no longer be accurate, but it’s still considered a major operation. So as Cardi says, listen to your doctor about any and all risks.)

A good reminder: Putting off surgery to do more research is way less work than getting surgery and then needing another procedure to have it reversed. Thanks for your honesty, as always, Cardi B!

In 2019 the WAP rapper had her second breast enhancement surgery along with liposuction after the birth of her daughter Kulture.
