Floyd Mayweather Hails LeBron James and Bronny James

Floyd Mayweather is one of the best stories of ‘Black Excellence’ in sports, especially combat sports. After missing out on an Olympic triumph in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, the pugilist’s career from “Pretty Boy” Floyd to “Money” Mayweather was extraordinary.

The Los Angeles Lakers superstar, LeBron James, is also a successful athlete in the Black community. The Lakers drafted Bronny, his son, and Mayweather has some choice of words after the good news.

Lakers Draft Bronny James, Creating Father-Son NBA Duo

The Lakers drafted Bronny in the second round as the 55th pick of the 2024 NBA draft, making James and Bronny the only active father-son duo in the NBA. There were rumors that Rich Paul was blackmailing other NBA teams to have James and Bronny play together.

Nonetheless, having a father-son duo in a team excites fans, especially Floyd Mayweather, a hardcore NBA fan.

“Making Black history look great! I love seeing powerful Black men like @kingjames excelling in all areas while providing us all a courtside view of how to succeed by playing chess not checkers. @bronny you deserve all the success and praise as you’ve worked hard and have earned what God has intended for you,” Mayweather captioned his recent Instagram post of James with his wife with Bronny, where he also praised the role of Savannah James in the James’ family success.

Mayweather is very close with his family. After all, he comes from the famed Mayweather boxing family. He enjoys spending time with his grandchild.

Family has been an integral part of Mayweather’s life, evidenced by the lavish gifts he has given to his four children. Moreover, he has also given back to the community and has celebrated Black Excellence wherever it is.

However, Mayweather has had a contentious relationship with Floyd Sr., his father. Like himself, Floyd Sr. was a boxer, but injuries sustained from a shooting incident cut short his career. Sr. spent the majority of Mayweather’s childhood in jail. However, Roger Mayweather, Floyd Sr.’s brother, trained Mayweather to glory. Roger passed away in 2020, saddening the Mayweather family.
