He mentioned that he had to shave his moustache for the role, which was a playful jab at his infamous CGI moustache removal in the 2017 Justice League reshoots.

Cavill wrote in the caption: “To be safe, I shaved the moustache off for this one. Just the moustache.”

The actor couldn’t shave his moustache for the Superman’s role in 2017 Justice League reshoots because he was filming 2018’s Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

As a result, the original cut of Justice League featured Cavill with a CGI upper lip, which was widely criticized online.

The British actor recently played a version of Wolverine, playfully referred to as “The Cavillrine” in the third Deadpool movie.

During his brief appearance, Deadpool even joked about Marvel treating Cavill better than the “studio down the street” (a nod to DC).

Cavill was initially set to return as Superman but quit the role for good after James Gunn took the reins of DC Studios and announced a hard reboot of the DC Universe.

Cavill’s latest Wolverine photo has received a warm response from fans.

One fan commented on the picture, “The most epic arm reload in cinematic history, everyone cheered when you appeared on screen.”

Another fan shared, “Every role you tackle you kill it .” A third user posted, “Henry, you will make a great Wolverine if Hugh Jackman steps down. You Reloaded those claws.”

Another fan chimed in: “You look more like Hugh Jackman than Hugh Jackman looks like Hugh Jackman”

Deadpool & Wolverine is currently playing in theatres worldwide.
