Conor McGregor Confirms “December” For MMA Return At UFC 310
Conor McGregor
The anticipation for Conor McGregor’s return is off the charts, and this eagerness to see him back has shot up even higher since his recent comments. The Irish superstar, known as much for his brash personality as his devastating left hand, has declared his intention to return to the octagon in December 2024, potentially at UFC 310. However, this announcement comes hot on the heels of UFC CEO Dana White’s contrary statement.
Notably, McGregor hasn’t graced the octagon since his ill-fated bout against Dustin Poirier in July 2021. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his frustration and determination. This comes after White revealed that McGregor won’t be fighting this year. In a now-deleted post, McGregor responded to White’s recent comments.
“Ah Dana, December is the date! Bring the calendar year home with a winning event! Come on now, what’s this? I am off to altitude next month to prepare. DECEMBER! Tell Dana and UFC WE WANT DECEMBER! WE DESERVE DECEMBER!” wrote McGregor.
The ‘Notorious’ calling for a year-end return starkly contrasts White’s recent comments at a press conference for the Contender Series. This conflicting narrative has left fans and analysts alike scratching their heads.
The deleted post may be a signal that McGregor may have chewed more than he could swallow. Perhaps the UFC head honcho was right in revealing that he won’t be gracing the octagon this year. Or maybe this is one of McGregor’s unpredictable moves. Nobody can say for sure.
Michael Chandler Responds To Conor McGregor’s Recent Comment About December Comeback
Chandler, the presumptive opponent for McGregor’s return, finds himself in an unenviable position. The American fighter has been waiting in the wings for nearly two years. He had been hoping to cash in on that coveted “red panty night” that comes with facing the sport’s biggest draw.
With the conflicting news from White and McGregor, Chandler didn’t want to feel left out and chimed in. He snarled at the Irish star, hinting that he may have finally moved on from the thought of fighting him.
“Ah Conor, the sport will move on and thrive without you. Put to bed. Laid to rest. Soon a distant memory. You’ve vastly overestimated your importance inside of this game for almost a decade. Godspeed,” wrote Chandler via X.
As the saga unfolds, fight fans are left to wonder: will the Mystic Mac make a return in December, or will 2024 close out without the sport’s most polarizing figure? Only time will tell, but one thing’s certain: expect the unexpected regarding the ‘Notorious’ Conor McGregor.
