During an appearance on the ‘Club Shay Shay’ podcast, the ‘Captain Hook’ rapper, Megan Thee Stallion, opened up about her relationship with power couple Beyoncé and JAY-Z, revealing how they’ve significantly impacted her career.

Host Shannon Sharpe asked the rapper about her decision to part ways with her record label and pursue an independent career. Reflecting on this pivotal move, Megan shared the insightful advice she received from JAY-Z. “When I was in the situation that I was in and I wanted to get out of it, they told me, ‘You need to do this on your own. You already know what it is, you got all the tools, all the legal stuff that you’re going through right now — I know that you’re learning something. So, you should be able to figure out how to get ahead and be your own boss,’” she recalled.

The ‘HISS’ rapper also revealed how Beyoncé has inspired her to expand her business ventures, including starting her own tequila brand. “I used to be the cognac queen, but as much as I used to enjoy cognac and promoted a lot of people’s liquor brands, she was like, ‘The next time I see you, you need to have your own alcoholic beverage,’” Megan shared. “I feel like they definitely put me in a position to learn how to be my own boss.”

Reflecting on her relationship with Beyoncé and JAY-Z, Megan expressed deep gratitude for having them as mentors. “Never did I ever think that I was going to be managed by the people that I looked up to. It just felt like a big family. They’re just so intelligent. They’ve been through everything.

They’re still going through it right now, but they just know how to carry it,” she said. “I’m learning from the best. I feel like I’m in the right spot, the right position. I’ve never felt so safe in a situation where I feel like these people got my back. I’ve just seen how much they’ve grown, and how much they hustle and how much they let all the talk and whatever else people say roll off their back,” Megan continued.

The Renaissance artist joined Megan on a remix of her hit song ‘Savage’, which went on to win two Grammy Awards for ‘Best Rap Song’ and ‘Best Rap Performance.’ Megan joined Beyoncé on her Renaissance World Tour for a surprise performance of ‘Savage Remix’ in their hometown of Houston.
