Canelo Alvarez vs. Jake Paul is only possible – “Canelo takes the money and leaves in just 30 seconds”

Dana White recently hinted that a potential fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul could happen in the future. Paul, who is set to face Mike Perry on July 20, originally planned to fight Mike Tyson on the same date. However, Tyson had to withdraw due to an inflamed ulcer, rescheduling their fight for November 15. Paul’s most notable wins have been against Andre August and Ryan Bourland, with his sole loss to Tommy Fury.

Jake Paul has expressed his ambition to win a world title, frequently mentioning Canelo Alvarez as a potential opponent. Despite Canelo dismissing the idea for now, he hasn’t completely ruled out the possibility. Dana White believes the fight could happen because of the significant financial incentives involved.

“It would be a 30-second payday for Canelo,” White said. “Canelo can fight real contenders and still make that kind of money. Jake needs these high-profile fights because people tune in hoping to see him get knocked out.”

Canelo Alvarez aims to secure lucrative fights before retiring. Although a fight with David Benavidez has been discussed, Canelo’s demand for $200 million has stalled negotiations. Other potential opponents include Terence Crawford, Edgar Berlanga, Jermall Charlo, and Chris Eubank Jr. The Berlanga fight, timed with Mexican Independence Day, could draw significant pay-per-view sales due to the combined fan bases. However, Eubank Jr. is currently seen as the front-runner for Canelo’s next fight, though a UK bout is unlikely.

A fight between Canelo Alvarez and Jake Paul remains a tantalizing possibility, driven by the enormous payday it would generate. While Canelo continues to focus on fighting top-tier opponents, the prospect of an easy, lucrative match against Paul may eventually prove too tempting to ignore. For now, boxing fans eagerly await Canelo’s next move and Paul’s upcoming bout against Mike Perry.
