“HOT NEWS: Vasiliy Lomachenko Withdraws to Let Gervonta Davis Fight Shakur Stevenson for a Chance to Unify Three Belts”

Vasiliy Lomachenko, the IBF lightweight champion, has been in talks with Gervonta Davis, the WBA champion, with the goal of unifying the titles. However, according to coach Kenny Ellis, this plan may change.

“Lomachenko has offered to let Gervonta Davis fight Shakur Stevenson this fall, and he will face the winner in early 2025,” Ellis shared on Instagram. If this becomes a reality, the landscape of this boxing weight class will have many significant changes in the near future.

Currently, Shakur Stevenson holds the WBC title, so if Lomachenko had waited a little longer, he could have fought to unify three belts instead of two, creating a more exciting fight.

Shakur Stevenson: Ready for new challenges

Shakur Stevenson, Olympic champion at Rio de Janeiro 2016, is a name that many boxing fans are looking forward to. Shakur Stevenson defended his WBC lightweight title on home soil at the Prudential Center in Newark last Saturday against Artem Harutyunyan. He got a unanimous decision on the cards 119-109, 118-110, 116-112 over his No. 7 opponent.

By the time he won the vacant title against Edwin De Los Santos in November 2023 after a lackluster performance, Stevenson (22-0, 10 KOs) had announced his retirement. He reversed his decision several months later, recalling that he only had one battle left with Top Rank and then he would be free.

The test match with German boxer Harutyunyan will be an opportunity for the 27-year-old boxer to prove that he is capable of defeating a supposedly invincible opponent like Gervonta Davis.
