Taylor Swift ‘Eras Tour’ Created a ‘Micro-earthquake’ in California

It’s difficult to imagine anything Taylor Swift cannot do. From constructing a billion-dollar empire by singing about her failed relationships and exes to leading the army of millions of Swifties across the globe- the 34-year-old singer-songwriter has achieved something that other celebrities can only dream of.

While hopping from one continent to another for her phenomenal Eras Tour, Taylor Swift is busy leveling up her bank account.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in California went on to become a seismic event. According to the research team led by Gabrielle Tepp of Caltech, the Californian stop of Swift’s Eras Tour generated monumental waves.

Based on the research published by the team in the Seismological Research Letters, they had to place strong motion sensors at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles after receiving a request from the California Office of Emergency Services ahead of the Eras Tour.

As reported by Fox News, the sensors detected the seismic signature and strength of tremors caused by all the songs performed by Swift at the stadium.

Based on the recorded data, the strongest seismic activity was recorded during  Swift’s performance on Shake It Off. As per the study, 70, 000 fans were present inside the SoFi Stadium, creating a seismic wave with a 0.851 magnitude by dancing and jumping in the crowd.

On comparing teh concerts of Beyoncé, Metallica, and Morgan Wallen in 2023, Gabrielle Tepp mentioned in the study-

“Overall, the results from these concerts are similar to those from the Swift concerts and support the audience-source hypothesis. The (local magnitude) of the songs was in the same range as the Swift concerts, although none matched or exceeded the strongest Swift signal. Based on the maximum strength of shaking, the strongest tremor was equivalent to a magnitude -2 earthquake,” 

Taylor Swift’s performances on Shake It Off, You Belong With Me, Love Story, Cruel Summer, and 22 generated seismic waves of 0.851, 0.849, 0.800, 0.741, and 0.645 magnitudes respectively.

This is not the first time, Taylor Swift’s fans generated seismic waves during the Eras Tour. In 2023, during the Seattle stop of the tour, seismic waves of 2.3 magnitude were generated by her sea of fans.

Taylor Swift Performed In Front Of  The Largest Crowd At Melbourne Cricket Ground Stadium

Taylor Swift’s Australian leg of her Eras Tour made headlines. According to TH News, the Lavender Haze singer performed in front of 96,000 people, the biggest crowd of her career at Melbourne Cricket Ground Stadium.

The singer was awe-struck by the excited crowd, cheering for her. Based on a viral clip from the MCG stadium, Swift was seen acknowledging the crowd. She said-

“This is the biggest show that we have done on this tour, or any tour, ever,” 

Taylor Swift in Anti-Hero

The Melbourne Cricket Ground stadium came alive with Taylor Swift’s fans dressed up in bright and sparkly outfits and exchanging friendship bracelets with each other.

Maximum attendees were local, but plenty traveled from different cities and countries to become a part of the historical music tour. Taylor Swift will be performing in Paris and France for the European leg of her Eras Tour in May 2024.
